Santo Domingo lapidary artist Lisa Chavez is known for her exquisite heishe style turquoise. Lisa often incorporates gold bead accents in her necklaces. She often works with Curtis Pete.
Much of the Santo Domingo jewelry made today is very similar to Anasazi jewelry found in digs at Chaco Canyon and Mesa Verde. Some of the jewelry found in these digs is more than a thousand years old. If you are in the west you will surely see Santo Domingo Jewelry and especially Santo Domingo Beads in all the major galleries.
The silver cones, chain and clasp are by award winning silversmith Curtis Pete. Navajo/Hopi artist Curtis Pete has been a silversmith since the pre-1980’s. He works in both contemporary and traditional styles, silver twist wire, cluster, set stone overlay and fabricated jewelry. He was the resident silversmith for Rocking Horse Ranch.
