Description

R177 Moki Weaving

Classic style Moki Chief's Blanket Revival. The 47 1/2” x 56” Navajo rug with Spider Woman crosses is hand woven.

Spider Woman taught the Navajo how to weave. The symbol of Spider Woman (a cross) was given to the early Navajo weavers to remember her teachings and wisdom.

Designs which use 1st, 2nd and 3rd phase patterns are referred to as Chief's Blanket Revival or simply Blanket Revival.  Generally, they are woven as rugs or wall hangings and are not meant to be worn.
