Pine Springs rug by Navajo weaver Leona Tynele. The 26" x 38" rug is vegetal dyed.
Pine Springs weavings originated in the Chinle area of the Navajo reservation and are characterized as finely woven textiles usually featuring muted vegetal colors of light browns and greens. These weavings are borderless, with horizontal stripes broken up by alternating groups of shapes and designs.
These rugs feature clean, distinct lines which most often feature natural plant dyes and hand-spun wools. Navajo weavers are keeping history alive by continuing the tradition in a modern, 21st century world.
