Charlie Begay
Navajo artist Charlie Begay was born in Salinas Springs and is currently residing in Tuba City. He is a contemporary Navajo artist who is known to have been active in the last half of the 20th century. His painting style is much like that of Navajo artist Harrison Begay, in that his presentation of Navajo life is ideal and romantic, the landscape is beautiful and restful, the animals are healthy and bountiful, and the children are beautifully dressed and happy.
Charlie is a full time silversmith and artist. His son, Alfred is also a silversmith.
Charlie’s work is represented in museums and galleries throughout the country, including The Philbrook Museum of Art and the Heritage Center Collection at the Red Cloud Indian School in Pine Ridge, South Dakota.
