K411 Eototo Kachina
Eototo Kachina by Hopi carver Dennis Namingha, Sr. The 8 3/4” x 2 3/4” x 2” kachina on a 5/8” base is carved from cottonwood root in the traditional Hopi manner.
Dennis Namingha, Sr. is from Polacca, on the Hopi Reservation. Dennis is a member of the Rabbit/Tobacco Clan.
Eototo is the chief of all kachinas and knows all of the ceremonies. He is the spiritual counterpart of the village chief and as such is called "father" of all the kachinas. He controls the seasons and is sometimes called the husband of Hahai-i Wuhti.
The Eototo Kachina holds a bag of Sacred Corn Meal and sprinkles it on the ground. Eototo is often displayed alongside Aholi (his Lieutenant). This kachina belongs to the Bear Clan.
