Hopi Maiden by Hopi kachina carver John Poleahla, Sr. The 11" x 3" x 2 1/2" kachina on a 1" base is holding two prayer feathers. Carved from cottonwood root in the traditional Hopi way.
About the Carver:
Hopi Kachina carver John Poleahla, Sr. was born December 13, 1938 into the Fire/Coyote Clan. He is the son of Bert & Freida Poleahla, and the father of kachina carvers John, Jr., Adrian, Wayne and Irwin Poleahla. John has been a kachina carver since the 1950’s.
