Mudheads are the most renowned of all Pueblo Kachinas. They represent the many social roles Mudheads participate in and appear in almost all ceremonies as entertainers, messengers, announcers of dances, drummers and clowns.
Mudhead Kachinas are actually clowns, making him one of the most popular kachinas. He has a red/brown clay coating "from head to toe."
Hopi Kachina carver Arnold is the son of Arnold Numkena, Sr. Arnold is from Second Mesa. His favorite subjects are the kachina dancers.
