Quintin Quam was born on August 11, 1962 to Constance Richards and Daniel Quam at home in Gallup, New Mexico, as there were no hospitals until the 1970s. He is the fifth of nine children. He is the only one in his family carrying on the tradition of the exquisite and intricate inlay birds.
He was taught inlay and jewelry making by Sammy and Esther Guardian Another large influence in his life were the Edaakies and Haloos. He enjoys working and spends 15 hours a day cutting, stamping, drilling, doming and inlaying stones. His work is amazingly detailed and precise. He truly loves what he does.
