Navajo artist Rick Martinez from the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico has been working in silver for well over 20 years. He is a fulltime silversmith who is known for his unique style, combining the traditional with the contemporary. He uses only the finest high-grade turquoise, coral and other gemstones in his one of a kind silverwork.
Royston is known for its beautiful colors ranging from deep green to rich, light blues with a brown matrix. The Royston mine in Nevada is still producing high quality turquoise.

Navajo silversmith Rick Martinez does fine smithing of Traditional Revival pieces and is known for making high-end jewelry. Martinez brings old world traditional styling to his Jewelry frequently making pieces with emphasis on minimal silver and large premium Turquoise stones.
He uses fine stones and often "antiques" his pieces to make them look older than they are. He employs a variety of techniques such as several sizes of drops, twist wire, and stamped cutouts.
He is also a cousin of Kirk Smith (1957-2012), who was traditional, Navajo silversmiths.
