Zuni sterling silver bolo comprised of 62 Sleeping Beauty turquoise needlepoint stones. One of the many special details about this vintage piece is the rolled silver center. Silver raindrops and silver braid accent the turquoise needlepoint. Hallmark: C J The 2 1/4” x 2 3/4” bolo is on a 34” braided leather with silver tips and 1” x 1 1/4” needlepoint dangles. Ca: 1770’s

The Sleeping Beauty mine is located near Globe, Arizona. Its turquoise is noted for its solid, light blue color with little or no matrix. Sleeping Beauty turquoise is the favorite of the Zuni Pueblo silversmiths for use in petit point, needlepoint, and inlay jewelry. This mine is one of the largest in North America and was still operating until August 2012.
