J144 Vintage Turquoise Beads
Fox turquoise hand drilled nugget necklace with a jacla. This jacla was made for ceremonial use. It would have been worn at the end of a necklace. It is hand ground and hand drilled with natural gem grade turquoise. The 32” necklace with 4.5” jaclas is strung on braided cotton. Circa 1800
The Fox Turquoise mine, located near Lander County was discovered in the early 1900’s. The Fox mine, once known as the Cortez, has been one Nevada’s largest producing mines for about a century. The Fox mine is still producing today.
