Carico Lake Turquoise
Price: $3,800.00

Description

Sterling silver cuff by award winning silversmith Steve Arviso. The cuff with a silver overlay pattern has a 1” x 1 1/4” Carico Lake turquoise cabochon. The inside of the cuff is 5 1/4” with a 1” gap

Steven is known for his traditional hand stamped silverwork and twist wire patterns. Quote from Steve: “I build jewelry that is meant to be kept. That’s what my jewelry means to me-it’s something very spiritual and personal.”

Carico Lake is a turquoise that comes from a large active mine in Nevada. In the last twenty years it has been mined sporadically so it is a relatively scarce turquoise. The green and blue-green spider web turquoise has a unique matrix and is one of the finest turquoise in North America. The colors and scarcity of Carico Lake turquoise make it a valuable addition to any collection.

About the artist

Steven Arviso

Award winning Navajo silversmith Steven Arviso has been an active silversmith since 1990. His teachers were Harry Morgan and Jay Evetts.

"I'm a creator more than an artist," says Steven; "When I get a piece of turquoise, I don't instantly know what I'm going to make... out of 20, 30 stones, and only 1 turquoise will speak to me."  Steven is known for his traditional hand stamped silverwork and twist wire patterns. He creates jewelry inspired by old Navajo styles with an emphasis on the natural beauty of the stone.

Steve is fast becoming famous for his particular take on old style Navajo jewelry. His ritual-like creation process, the high quality turquoise he uses, the specifically pre-1950s style that he uses, and his own exclusive touch are what make Arviso's works such highly sought after pieces of art.

Steve Says: “I build jewelry that is meant to be kept. That’s what my jewelry means to me-it’s something very spiritual and personal.”
