J1247 Cross on Turquoise Beads
Sterling silver cross on turquoise beads interspaced with silver beads. The 3/4” x 1 7/8”cross is on 17” turquoise beads.
This is a traditional Navajo dragonfly Patriarchal or Lorraine/Dragonfly double bar cross pendant. The double bar cross, known as the Cross of Lorraine or the Cross of Anjou, has held popular prominence in the French and European culture since the 12th century and can be found symbolized in many Coats of Arms and European flags. To the Navajo, it’s a reference to the Dragonfly. Finishing by lightly oxidizing the silver to give it a vintage patina appearance.
