Marble Yorkshire Terrier fetish by Zuni carver Felissa Martin. The 1 ½ x 5/8 x 1 ¼ dog fetish has a jet nose and turquoise eyes.
Although a dog is not a spiritual Zuni fetish, they represent loyalty - a true & noble friend to the Zuni and to all of mankind.
Felissa Martin and her sister Clissa Martin are the daughters of Carol Martinez - the miniature horse carver known for inlaying a hand on their rumps. We believe the sisters are both in their late twenties or early thirties. Felissa is related to many prominent carvers and families in Zuni, including the Laates, Quams and Kammasees.
