Multi-stone Mallard fetish by Zuni carver Sullivan Shebola. The 2 1/2” x 3/4” x 1” Mallard is carved from pipestone, jet and crystalline with turquoise eyes. The back of the duck is embellished with sgraffito.
Sullivan Shebola is known for his multi-stone fetishes. He is a master of sgraffito. This technique of etching reveals a background of contrasting color. Sullivan comes from a family of fetish carvers. An elaborate multistone inlaid duck, is a signature carving for this artist
