Michael Kirk
Michael Kirk, Isleta Pueblo and Navajo Silver/Goldsmith, was born in 1949. He has been a working silver/goldsmith since 1971.
Andy, his brother was his teacher. Michael is known for his precise silver and gold work and beautiful channel inlay. He also hand rolls beads.
Michael spoke of his inspirations: “I am surrounded by ideas. Our pueblo religion and culture are an everyday part of life, and I’m surrounded with it all the time.”
He has received wide acclaim for his delicate and precise silver work and beautiful channel inlay. He is an accomplished artist. Michael is particularly noted for his delicately textured Leaf and Feather designs. Michael is of the Isleta Pueblo, or Shiewhibak in the native Isletan Tiwa language, and he mentors his family in running the business which supports the making of the jewelry he designs and creates. Both his daughter Elizabeth and his niece Melanie Kirk-(Lente) make jewelry.
