Lyndon Tsosie
Lyndon Tsosie was born in 1968 at Fort Defiance, Arizona and has been active making jewelry since 1990. He studied under Tommy Jackson and currently lives in Gallup New Mexico. Lyndon has been heard to say that he didn't have "the advantage" of learning his skills from his family; he "had to go to school, because (his) parents were both professionals."
Lyndon is among a new breed of Native American artists who are exploring new avenues in the traditional art of metals. In his technique of sculptured inlay, he uses asymmetrical pieces of precious and semiprecious stones patterned into bold textures that portray landscapes. He takes much joy in making every piece by hand and uses sterling silver, gold and platinum.
His awards include: the Santa Fe Indian Market (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention), The Heard Museum Indian Market (Best in Category and Honorable Mention), Pohatan Renape Art Festival (1st, 2nd, 3rd, Best in Division), Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial (2nd and 3rd), New Mexico State Fair (1st, 2nd, 3rd), and the Southwest Art Festival (1st).
