B168 Papago Basket

Vintage coiled Papago basket. The 10 1/4” x 5 3/4” basket is in excellent condition. A stepped, diamond pattern is displayed with coyote tracks in the bottom.

PAPAGO (TOHONO O'ODHAM) are desert people who produced magnificent baskets with special characteristics. Until recently, their narrowly-coiled baskets were made of cattail or bear grass and were closely stitched with willow splints.
