J1224 Harold Stevens
Turquoise inlay cuff by Navajo silversmith Harold Stevens. The ½” sterling silver cuff is inlaid with Battle Mountain/Blue Gem turquoise. The inside of the cuff is 5 ¾” with a 1 ¼” gap.
The historic Battle Mountain/Blue Gem Mine was located in the Copper Basin area southwest of Battle Mountain, Nevada. It was an active mine between 1934 until the 1970’s. Most of the turquoise in this mine was gem quality. The mine produced a variety of colors-pale blue, aqua blue, intense blue and even green.

Harold Stevens, Jr. is a Navajo contemporary jewelry artist, professional jewelry designer, and silversmith who uses a wide range of precious gemstones and natural minerals. His expertise lies in his hand cut stones and high detail inlay.
Harold has over 30 years’ experience in stone cutting and is a true master in cutting and inlaying opal. He has done micro inlays in all sorts of collections from knife handles and 1 of a kind gun handles.
For over twenty years his principal focus has been on jewelry rooted in his Navajo heritage, incorporating traditional iconography and a meticulous level of craftsmanship. He is known to produce the unexpected in Native American Indian jewelry! A good example is he bracelet (below) with channel inlay on one side and regular inlay in the other with the cutout silverwork on the inside.
