About the Silversmith:
Award winning Don Platero is well known as a Navajo silversmith. His last name means "silversmith" in Spanish. He started working with silver in 1964 at age 10. Don, a third generation silversmith, learned silversmithing from observing his father, Dan Platero. His mother, Agnes Platero was also a silversmith.
Don’s great grandfather, silversmith Pablo Platero, originated from Canyon de Chelly.
