Tufa casting is a technique of pouring molten silver into a tufa stone mold and letting it harden into a given form. The mold is only used once; therefore each item is an original piece.

Nathan Begay
Navajo silversmith Nathan Begay is from a family of silversmiths. He is the son of Darryl Dean and Rebecca Begay and the brother of Mathew and Robert Begay, all of whom are silversmiths. The Begay family is from Gallup, New Mexico.
Nathan has been an active silversmith since 2008. Nathan and his family are all known for their excellent tufa casting techniques.
