J1690 Turquoise Ring
Sterling silver ring by award winning silversmith Jennifer Curtis. The ring with an intricately stamped band has a 3/4” x 1 1/8” Carico Lake stone. Size 7
Like her father, Jennifer is known for her heavy stamping technique. Nothing used in her jewelry is commercially made. All the materials, silver and stones, come from Mother Earth.
Carico Lake is a turquoise that comes from a large active mine in Nevada. In the last twenty years it has been mined sporadically so it is a relatively scarce turquoise. The green and blue-green spider web turquoise has a unique matrix and is one of the finest turquoise in North America. The colors and scarcity of Carico Lake turquoise make it a valuable addition to any collection.
About the artist
Jennifer Curtis
Jennifer Curtis was born in Keams Canyon on the Navajo Reservation. She is the daughter of legendary silversmith Thomas Curtis. Like her father, Jennifer is known for her heavy stamping technique. Nothing used in her jewelry is commercially made. All the materials, silver and stones, come from Mother Earth.
Jennifer works in very heavy gauge silver with the help of her husband Ray Skeets. Jennifer constructs every part of her jewelry herself. She uses her father's stamp and die sets. This is important because they are Thomas's original designs (not commercially bought). When you buy Curtis jewelry it is a unique creation not mass produced.
She is a respected Navajo female silversmith working in a traditional style. Known for her exquisite stamp and file designs, Jennifer’s work is the perfect blend of tradition and innovation.
Jennifer’s hallmark is simply “Jennifer” in script.
