“The Corn Dancer” by renowned San Ildefonso artist Gilbert Atencio. This original opaque watercolor is 5 ½” x 9”. It is signed “by Gilbert Atencio (46)” on the front and “The Corn Dancer by Gilbert Atencio San Ildefonso Pueblo” on the back. Frame size: 11 1/2" x 15 1/2"
Gilbert Atencio was born in Colorado in 1930 and died in April of 1995. He attended school at the San Ildefonso Day School and graduated from the Santa Fe Indian School in 1947. Gilbert is the nephew of legendary potter Maria Martinez. His work is represented in major collections throughout the United States.
