Bandolier bags are elaborately decorated shoulder bags that were a sign of wealth and prestige. The bags are thought to have originated around the 1840s or 1850s. Around the early 1900’s women began using the decorative bags in parades, displaying them by hanging them around their horse’s necks. Few were made after the 1940s, although they are occasionally made today.

Tom Damiani was a master of beadwork and replicas of Indian artifacts.  He supplied the movie studios with display pieces and props for their films.  The beadwork was very exact and replicates the craftsmanship of the Native Americans.  After Tom’s death, his crew continued the art of beadwork by producing moccasins, bags, and other accessories and artifacts with the same skill that Tom had taught them.
